We already passed the halfway point for the quail season here in California. Reports regarding populations and hunter success are very mixed. They range from bag limits in record time to outright flops. My own experience shows moderate to good populations in Kern County and near Palm Springs. The quarry is however very spooked to due to hunting pressure.
Excellent quail hunting is reported from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Boar hunting is also reported to be good to excellent on the military reservations. Please note that for Vandenberg you must be in the active military to gain admission.
